what I use as a creative and blogger

I thought I would share with you my working process and how I organise my life as an artist, blogger, illustrator and small shop owner. It normally includes a lot of note books and note keeping. I own quite a few notebooks and sketch books, above are just my notebooks and scrapbooks for pictures and ideas that i have been using for the last month or so most of my above notebooks and scrapbooks were purchased from paperchase they can be a little pricey for a notebook but I like the quality.

If you are more of a visual thinker a bit like me i need to have a constant flow of images, when I moved back from uni I had a whole box of images collected from magazines, posters, letters and photos I always use to say you never know when it might inspire you. I would suggest collecting them up into a sort of scrap book, I call it my Visual journal, I learn’t to keep one when I was doing my Fine Art degree, its the perfect place to go to for inspiration and put little notes along the side to keep track of your thoughts at the time and why it inspired you. Most of my images are taking from magazines, I never has a complete magazine I always have to cut them up and take them apart! Its nice to just have them all in one place. hy it inspired you.

If you are struggling to Organise your work or life I suggest getting a Filofax or a blog diary I do indeed have both ( i need a lot to organise), I do struggle putting all my notes into one diary so I personally separate them up its just how my brain works. I am also an extensive note writer I don’t leave the house without my notebook you don’t have to spend too much for a good notebook my favourite one is from the Pound shop, if you are just writing lots of notes I don’t think it matters really what you write in as long as you get your ideas down. Not everything that I write down has a purchase sometimes its just nice to keep a journal just for random thoughts and everyday ideas, I do just do it so my brain isn’t filled with to many ideas. Try it, its a good way to process thoughts.

I also try my hardest to stay on top of my emails, so my iphone is pretty vital for tweeting, messaging and organising, but i really need to spend a lot more time away from my Iphone, Its just so easy to be distracted by it but it can be great for organising.

Love the visual notebook idea, I'm a writer not an artist but I bet it would be great for story inspiration too. Might try it! Thanks for sharing.

I love your scrap books 🙂 I have a few little notebooks next to my bed which is my way of keeping the different aspects of my life organised- my system isn't quite as pretty as yours though!

Hey flower – I love this post, it's so me. I'm addicted to my iPhone and at times I'm like 'yes, I really don't need it permanently attached to my hand' then other times I freak out because half my life is on that thing, ha ha! I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, I would be scared to lose it let's just say that! Also, as a visual learner myself I'm loving your ideas for pictures everywhere, although I do love to read, just not giant dusty books. All my mags are cut up and falling apart too, taking up so much storage space in my wardrobe but I just can't throw them out, I mind find something in there some day that inspires me like you said.

    Lots of love ✿

One of my favourite things about Art – are Artists's sketchbooks and scrapbooks, I love seeing all the inner workings and raw ideas. Your scrapbooks look so so inspiring!!
