Ladies lunch menu at Chai Wu review

Me and my sister had the wonderful privilege at the weekend of being invited to taste the amazing Ladies Lunch menu at Chai Wu on the 5th floor at Harrods. Now I love harrods mainly for the extravagance and sheer beauty of the building. Chai Wu is a beautifully decorated Chinese restaurant with its interior inspired by the five elements in chinese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, metal and water giving the space a calming feel. The ladies lunch menu features some amazing tasty treats 8 courses to be precise, I was really looking forward to sampling the edible lipstick.

We
were made to feel super welcome by the staff as we sat in the VIP
section, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne as they
talked us through the menu and we were served steamed Soy beans with XO
sauce, now my sister absolutely loved this as they weren’t too spicy.
Next was the delicately steamed lobster, I’ve never had lobster and sea
bass crystal dumplings I had never had Lobster before so I was
pleasantly surprised that i loved the taste.

The Wheat grass and avocado
shooters weren’t to our taste but they did cleanse the palette and felt
fresh. We both finished our because we knew how healthy they were hoping
to give us that much needed boost and glow. Through out meal the
service was amazing, calm and informative as there is so much on the
menu that I had never experienced before so that was so helpful. The
chef also treated us to amazing complimentary Dumplings that we shared
amongst each other sampling and indulging.

Presentation
of the food was wonderful, delicate and perfect, I’m not one for fancy
restaurants (due to feeling overwhelmed) the artist in me really enjoyed
the aesthetic side of the food the dumplings lovingly wrapped and
topped off with gold leaf to steaming champagne strawberries, perfectly
Instagramable.

We then had the beauty bucket of
clear soup poached Shanghainese chicken and collagen jelly (not sure
what collagen jelly is) which was light but very tasty and actually
rather filling, we were then served beautiful Salmon marinated in manuka
honey I think this had to be mine and my sisters favorite the honey
really complimented the salmon.

Now
when it comes to the dessert it was a whole new level of tastiness and
decadence. My favorite on the menu was definitely the Green tea fondant
and champagne strawberries. i have to say I did make a bit of a mess
with it, but I figured that just proved how much I loved it! The edible
lipstick was a great novelty piece and like I was saying earlier the
presentation and thought that had gone into making the food was
amazing.

As you walk into the restaurant you are greeted with the sight of the chefs cooking and creating their master pieces, it was a great element to the restaurant and the whole experience is something that I would recommend to anyone wanting to try something a little different. The Ladies’ lunch menu is £70 per person and is open 12:00pm – 17:00pm Sunday – Friday. Its definitely  an experience I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

HOPE YOU’RE HAVING A FAB WEEK
