Nike this girl can campaign feature

Vest Primark | Trainers NIKE | Running Leggings Boohoo | Training Bra Primark

So the wonderful people at Nike liked what they saw on the boohoo campaign and asked me to share my story over on their This Girl Can Campaign website along side some wonderfully inspiring ladies. So I shared my story about running and how its made me feel, it has taken a wee back seat in the last 4 weeks due to work load but joining a new gym next week is going to get me back on top of my fitness. I am now in the process of toning up and I'll be sharing a little more on that in the next few weeks for my get fit series. I felt super proud of sharing photos of me running the thought of that sounds pretty terrifying in itself but it has really freed myself up and made me realize at the end of the day who cares, I did it with a big grin on my face. Hopefully it will inspire others to get outside and get active.

Top tips and advice for accepting yourself

Faux Leather jacket Zara | Jeans h&m | Boots office | baggy tee Zara - similar  | Antique Locket

"You bring just as much awesomeness as anyone who has graced this Earth"
I'm going to get all deep with you over here for Wednesday having a  mid week musing, after 15 years of hating what I look like finally decided to accept myself, yep there I said it. I was on the phone to my best mate when I blurted out to her "I love what I look like" after chatting about a recent failed relationship where I figured for once it wasn't that I wasn't good enough (surprisingly happens all the time with me hating on myself) to which my mate of eight years responded "I've been telling you this from day one!" our brains certainly does like to twist things doesn't it?!
I like what I see when I look in the mirror and for some reason the other day I felt braggy for saying that but confidence comes from within, honesty with yourself is important. I can see the person I was and who I wanted to be reflected in my face. I'm far from perfect and I am working towards little goals of happiness and fun, fully aware like everything else in life it isn't handed to you on a plate and I think even if it was I wouldn't take it willingly. I've never been a big fan of myself looks wise, I'm the first to put myself down when needed but I'm on a path of learning and new thinking, I'm from a large family and my sister being the girly girl, I just never figured myself as being attractive it's just like anything you learned you can unlearn it and start a new way of thinking.
Don't get me wrong I have odd moments where I wish my boobs were a little bigger (again) or I was taller but I figured there's no real fun in wanting things that aren't ever going to happen. We should really be happy and grateful for what we have been blessed with. There will always be someone out there slimmer, prettier and smarter then you, but at the end of the day they aren't you. there is only one of you and you bring just as much awesomeness as anyone who has graced this Earth. Don't water yourself down just because you don't think yourself worthy or good enough. Accept yourself, flaws and all.

Here are my top tips and advice for accepting yourself.
- Make a list of lovely things about you, cut them up (can be anything smallest to the biggest,) pop them in a jar and keep hold of them, when you start doubting yourself pull one out and read it aloud.
- Get out of your head and back into the moment.
- Buy yourself good fitting clothes, something that makes you feel sassy, hello new Zara Faux leather jacket for added sassiness.
- Be aware of your faults, but realise they are only part of you and you aren't a failure you're human.
-You cant please everyone all the time simple,
- Nurture your well being
- Give yourself a break
- You carry yourself with you everywhere look after yourself
- Don't be too tough on yourself but always strive to be better today then you was yesterday.

This girl can campaign with Boohoo

This blog post has been very much overdue, A few months ago I had the wonderful opportunity to have a fitness inspired day with boohoo for the This girl can Campaign. We got to don some wonderful boohoo fit pieces and get our make up done and a first for me to actually be in a photo shoot. There was a fun message behind the whole day, it really doesn't matter what your level of fitness is, its all about getting out and getting your sweat on.

As long time readers of Ella would be aware I've not always been the size 8 that I am now and its through hard work and belief in myself. This campaign was very close to my heart, so thats why I felt incredibly honored to be involved in the the shoot. You can read the full campaign and interview over on Boohoo

It was wonderful getting to spend the day in Manchester and chat about health and fitness and get some fab tips. The photos of all the ladies turn out really lovely and its so nice to be involved in something a little different.

It really was a wonderful experience for a girl who has fought a very long an heart breaking battle with accepting how she looks, I felt that I was able to inspire some ladies to get into a better mind set and getting to work alongside one of my favorite brands like boohoo is always sucha joy.

Biscuiteers and blogging babes

Possibly the best event I have been to in a long time, a combination of biscuits, fashion and a handful of my favorite blogging babes, made this wonderful evening put on by Biscuiteers really fun. Travelling to the Clapham store with the wonderful Zoe was fun enough itself we were treated to a little blogging Q&A with the lovely Olivia, kristable and Lucy. Whilst people sipped Sipsmith Gin and ate beautiful Macaroons. The event was held to celebrate the collaboration for London Fashion week with blogger Alice Naylor-leyland. Big big fan of biscuiteers, from the branding to the products nothing like a good British company that create wonderful honest hand-made products.

So decorating biscuits wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be?! we got to decorate a set of four from the new London Fashion Week collection, I got a little creative on the dress and the lovely professional biscuit decorators were at hand to give us some fab tips which clearly not taken on board by me! haha One of my favourite part of the evening is getting to meet new bloggers and I think I fell a little bit in love with Lauren from Naked Fashion sucha babe!

Ella Masters collaboration with Shake Shack for LFW 15

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to team up with Shake Shack to create a piece inspired by my city illustrations that fused London and New York together for London Fashion week 2015. It was a great learning process, and a challenge to get the two cities looking seamless sitting side by side. Above are the two designs I created for them, all my art work is hand drawn and edited in also all by hand, so pleased with the final outcome.

The only way you can get your hands on a tote is if you pop in to the Covent garden or Stratford shacks here in London from Friday 18th, There is a limited run so snap them up.

Life lately Looking to the future

It's September where did that come from?! This year has gone crazy fast and I feel that the months from May to August were over in a flash. Over here I am working away on Christmas ideas and stock, a lot of small business I know have had this organised and nailed down probably by March but I find juggling my freelance schedule to be my priority when it comes to my work ( well more recently) so my products and items have sadly had to take a back seat, sorry to everyone wanting illustrated goodies.

My clothes spending ban is still very much in full swing and its been way over a month since I took the vow to not buy anymore clothes for a while, It's done wonders for my bank account not sure if its that or my work load or busy schedule that have kept me at my desk for long hours avoiding shops, unless its to pick up fruit and veg?! Talking of fruit and Veg I have been on my new plant based diet for the last 12 days and I haven't yet passed away from lack of sugar, fizzy pop or snacks which is surprising haha,  I cancelled my gym membership as my work load has pilled up, there is only so much I can juggle. But I have had a few trial trips to the gym at the end of my road which is nice not having to jump on the train to go for a run, silly logic.

I have had a couple of wonderful opportunities land in my lap as of recent (I obviously worked hard for them), I'm a little panicky as I find September and October to be my most quiet months so I am embracing those things that have popped up in my mail box and feverishly hunting out new and exciting projects, which I have found to be the best way. Not resting constantly searching, painting and developing my style.

I have spent a good few hours updating my online portfolio with all my new work and clients which I am really excited about, and in a weekish time a big commission piece for London Fashion Week will be coming out which I am super excited about. So I have set myself a couple of fab work goals for the next Three months that include Magazine work, exhibition work and getting my work out there as much as possible so if you're looking for a fun illustrator then I'm deffo your girl! Also E-courses are being sorted as I speak, it's been sucha challenge but I'm so glad to get the ideas off the ground.

I'm so looking forward to Autumn its my all time favorite season, even though I didn't actually manage to get myself a tan this summer, tut tut or a holiday for that matter.  I'm going to embrace Autumn in all its orangy glory, plus it will be my little nephews first Birthday in November which is amazing and scary all rolled into one.

So top of my to-do list for September is to prioritse my work and having much needed breaks I can seriously go two weeks without a day off and not realise it, which is silliness and really not good for my health so embracing those new ideas and changes are very much needed me thinks. Have you got anything exciting planned?

Sweet potato Brownie recipe

After I decided to fully embrace my new plant based diet with a hell of a lot of planing and prepping meals this week, I panicked that I wouldn't be able to sustain my sweet tooth. So when I stumbled across Deliciously Ella's sweet potato brownies. I was so excited to get making them. My first batch was filled with chunky Almonds instead of ground ones like in the reciepe just because I didn't have any in the cupboard. The recipe is pretty simple, I found the taste to begin with a little odd but was so delicious. I still need to practice the recipe a few more times but I am really happy with how they turned out.

Batch 10 Brownies

- 2 large sweet potatoes.
– 2 large sweet potatoes (600g)
– 2/3 of a cup of ground almonds/chunky for added texture (80g)
– 1/2 a cup of buckwheat or brown rice flour (100g)
– 14 medjool dates - Used normal dates for this recipe.
– 4 tablespoons of raw cacao
– 3 tablespoons of pure maple syrup / can use raw honey
– a pinch of salt

1. Start by pre-heating the oven to 180C, then peel the sweet potatoes. Cut them into chunks and place into a steamer for about  twenty minutes, until they become really soft.

2. Once they are perfectly soft and beginning to fall apart remove them and add them to a food processor with the pitted date.

3. Put the remaining ingredients into a bowl, before mixing in the sweet potato date combination. Stir well.

3. Place into a lined baking/greased dish and cook for about twenty minutes, until you can pierce the brownie cake with a fork bringing it out clean. Remove the tray and allow it to cool for about ten minutes – this is really important as it needs this time to stick together!
Remove the brownies from the tray, leaving it another few minutes before cutting them into squares – Then devour.

Ella illustrated London - Flower Works

My first ever job was here, Flower works, on the quaint little Windsor street in Uxbridge, that my ancestors use to stroll up and down on. I couldn't resist sitting down in the cafe opposite and drawing up  quick sketch.  I'm always such a fan of florists and I love how Flower works fill their windows with beautiful flowers and fun displays.

A few things to be proud of

River Island Top | Top shop boots | primark skirt | Accessorize bag |

This is now one of my favorite outfit combinations, I know right it's not striped shock horror, I just love how accidentally pairing them has created one of my favourite go to outfits. I have been a little tough on myself recently and skipped the gym a few times this week to keep on top of my orders and work schedule but I have been for a few more outdoors runs, even whilst its raining, so I can't be to tough on myself hey!? Do you ever get that, silly overwhelming guilt even though you're giving a 120% already? I know people say you'll find time if you really want to do something but not this week!

I managed to spend a wonderful couple of evenings with some of my favourite ladies last week which was fab, I had wagamams two nights on the trot and I loved every second of it! My new chapter has kicked inI have ticked a few wonderful things off my to-do list, one being creating a fan and fun mailing list for all you illustrated ella fans already over 200 received my first ever one last night with a wonderful discount code for my e-courses and a few hints and tips on painting and creating you can sign up in the top left tab above my header. I am also off to tackle making hummus for the first time ever as I'm learning this healthy eating thing from scratch and I'm super excited did you see yesterdays simple Fruity Porridge post? Easing myself into this recipe sharing thing.
