a new body of work

I have been working on new portrait styles and giving myself a little more freedom in my sketchbook. I think discovering new styles is so important as an artist for getting your work to the point you’re happy with it. I have spent a lot of my time working on paid illustrations and commission based work and I have become rather stagnant in what I have been creating.

So my new portraits have been created in Gouache and a simple black brush pen. I want to create a body of portraits that as a mix of all things I love, colour, people and tattoos So this little lady will be the start of my new collection. I find myself feeling a lot more excited when I am working on something new, the endless possibilities.

Do you have any tips for a person who is searching for their own style??? I always feel hesitant and angry when my artwork doesn't seem "beautiful" which leads me giving up easily.

I love that portrait, it's so cute. I like to try out new styles all the time. It's hard for me to settle on one style. It definitely creates an evolution throughout all of my sketchbooks.
