First off i would just like to say sorry about the amount of photos, oh dear i do get a bit carried away, i had a day off from work today which i made the most of and relaxed sat in the sun watched films and made my screen ready for printing, i am making patterned t-shirts, i also chilled in the sun and read my favorite pirate book, as research for a book i am writing and illustrating, i am totally obsessed with pirates i have been since i was a wee nipper, and i think my love of jewellery has stemmed from there. If you are a follower of my Tumblr you would have notice my love for all things colourful, silver and of course johnny depp-esque.
Dont worry this isnt a post about pirates, so cliche as the near pirates of the Caribbean film is coming out, i just wanted to share with everyone the pieces of jewellery that i wear everyday, mainly the rings, necklaces and bracelets.
Above you can see my stash of rings i have over 250 silver rings which if i am honest i never wear, i sold a few at a carboot sale in falmouth a few summers ago to make some quick cash, and it broke my heart having to part with them they all hold so many memories i cant get rid of them, so from now on unless the piece means nothing to me i will get rid of it, but if i love it i will keep it forever.
My newest edition to my ring collection is the black and turquoise silver stone ring (in the middle) that i bought off ebay 2 weeks ago i didn’t know the size but when i got it, it was a perfect fit and for £4.39 vintage 70’s its a bargain, i can imagine an american hippie/rock chic wearing whilst rocking out to Jimi Hendrix, so not true but i like to think it is. I wish i could talk you through every piece but i will be here for ever, the pendant that is square in the top images of all my bits and pieces has two forget-me-not flowers in it, my dad bought it for me before i started my foundation degree at camberwell college of arts, (its from camden) so that when ever i am stressed out i can look at it and it will remind me of him i love my dad he is a bit softy at heart!
All my bracelets are either rags of old shirts, festival bands (beach break 2009 1st ever festival) or ribbon from birthday presents, one of my prize pieces isn’t made of silver its a bracelet my little brother found on a beach in cornwall after i finished my 1st term of uni, he told me to keep hold of it so i would never be alone, it has a little eye on it so he can keep and eye on me and see that i am safe, i do love my family 🙂
jewellery to me isnt really about bling its about wearing memories on you like my tattoo, it will be with me forever so i dont forget so i can look down and go oh yeah, thats the time i had my heart broken, thats the time i spent with my dad or that was when i was happiest. That is what jewellery should be about an extension of you and who you are.
Sorry for the long rant, i hope everyone is all ok? i was feeling rather down earlier but spending some quality time with my wonderful dad, has made me feel loved again he is the only man in my life!
p.s. i am wearing no make i apologise 🙂
