Sketches from Degas exhibition at the royal Academy

The other day mum treat me to a little trip to the Royal Academy to see Degas new exhibition. I have always loved his paintings of Parisian Ballerina’s i don’t think there is another artist out there that could and can capture movement and light in a painting like Degas could. If you have never heard of him or think art and painting aren’t for you, seriously degas’ work is beautiful, delicate and truly awe-inspiring. Me and mum spent three and half hours in the exhibition just staring at the paintings. If you dont like paintings there was a mixture of sculpture and his photography which was beautiful.

Above are some of the sketches i did of the paintings hanging in the exhibition, you couldn’t take photos so i opted for the next best thing…drawing the paintings. So i took my trusty moleskin along and some watercolours and sketched away here is what i created
