flowers everywhere…

Ok ok i know what you are thinking…really Ella do you need to blog a million pictures of fake flowers?! yes is the answer to that! I visited this little shop in hastings at the weekend, i was going to do a mass weekend post but I really couldn’t resist sharing (this is just a few compared to how many i took) this lovely one of a kind shop. Me and mum had a 20 minute conversation with the shop owner who was just adorable, the shop is a family business that specializes in hand-made artificial flowers, of course mum being a florist was in her eliminate! I often hide away from any sort of flower now after working in a florist for four years (saturday girl brings back bad memories of early mornings) whilst at school…it wasn’t my calling. The lady told us all about the history and some of the films that her and her makers had worked on she said that they had made all the petals for gladiator you know the scene at the end where they all fall from the sky. I thought it was such a lovely little story, and its not like everyday you visit the seaside and come across such an amazing shop, it felt like I had walked into a victorian curiosity shop. I decided to put the bunches of flowers I had bought into good use and thats why I made my mayday style head-dress for yesterdays shoot. They also sold meters and meters of original 1930’s Velvet, I fell in love and could only afford a few little velvet swallows. Only if I had time to visit the flower museum in the basement. I hope my future shop is filled to the rafters with wonderful curiosities…
