This week itself jut felt like forever, every hour it felt like two. I was quite poorly at the beginning of the week, pretty much unable to function. I had to take tuesday off work due to exhaustion, you are probably thinking one day isn’t enough to recover, but its the only day I had spare and what with exams and teaching at school I couldn’t really take to many off ( I am the worst ill person i feel too guilty to be ill). But alas it is now the half term break and I have some rather wondrous things coming up.
But first off enough talking about work, my favorite thing this week has been a surprise gift from my mum, Chai tea, i use to drink gallons of the stuff, when i was at university it was my indulgence. I hadn’t had one in over a year and a half, so i pilled two sugars into my favorite tea cup and i just sat and enjoyed ever warm sip, the spicy sweet tea reminded me of all those things in that year and a half that I had forgot that i held dearly once upon a time. Work I find can sometimes consume me, i turn into a shell, a sort of uncreative normal person. In my head I have a million projects going on and absolutely zero time to reach my goals. So you know what I did after the warmth of the chai tea had worked its magic I got creative, I just put pencil to paper and let my thoughts flow, and then it was there on paper, a whole knew clothing line for RubyRaeLove. I sat at my desk and I just drew, then i ordered fabric with my illustrations on and I taught myself (briefly I did textiles at school and sixth form) how to make a dress prototype, it was just made of left over fabric from an old duvet cover but it worked, all in the space of four hours. My is traveling as we speak to me ready to be turned into beautiful dresses, I am so darn excited. So to all the lovely people I have emailed over the last week for fabric advice, books on sewing and printing people thank you, i really just love how giving people can be, how helpful and warm my readers and fellow bloggers are you are wonderful.
All I need now is to get myself a new sewing machine foot and prototype number two shall be in the bag exciting stuff!
chai tea is my favourite, and your sketches are adorable! loving your blog
