my little book of food.

So i bet some of you had new years resolutions of eat healthy loose weight? I did, or should I say I do, I have decided its all well and good cutting out snacks and not drinking fizzy drink ( I’m a sucker for a pepsi max) that I will make all my meals super healthy, I have been eating healthily now since 31 st December, its not been as hard as I thought what after the cascade of chocolate at christmas, Remember this post I wrote about in August about eating healthy and my weight loss over the summer? Between the months of October and December I was at a really low point with myself and I decided if I wanted to eat rubbish I would because you know what it made me feel happier, well to be honest it really didn’t my skin was the worst it has been ever and my energy levels were pretty non-exsistant, so I ate junk over christmas and I figured that it was basically my duty as a Masters in my house christmas is all about chocolates, twiglets and turkey and as of 2013 I will power through with the healthy lifestyle. The main word there being lifestyle, I figured the best way for me to do this ( as I am a visual thinker artist and all that) would be that i would think myself healthy sounds stupid but its totally working, think of myself in 6 months how i want to look, feel and be and thats what gets me through not bingeing on chocolate when I get in from work, or thinking that its too hard i want to eat rubbish,  instead eating some almonds and dried cranberries (totally my favourites) Its so much easier then I thought, i feel so much more in control and a lot happier it really is amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it.
To help me this year I have decided to make myself a little cook / healthy book filled with home-made recipes, for when I am feeling totally un-inspired, when i’m thinking i’ve had enough of the same food, because variety is indeed the spice of life and being healthy is so important, to add to this little book I discovered the amazing joy the baker the other day massive fan her food is awesome. I will be sharing with you, a few of my recipes and foody stuff as the weeks go on.
Have you made any little changes so far this year?

I say every year I'm going to make changes but never do, I've promised myself this year will be different. For me it's all about eating healthy balanced meals and exercising regularly. I've started a program called P90X it's a killer workout but I'm really enjoying it, hopefully I can keep up. Like you I'm looking ahead to how i want to be! Wishing you success xx

Weirdly I seem to have naturally slipped in to a health kick. Mainly fueled my my rubbish skin. I find one thing that really helps is my new motto "If you don't want to eat it, don't buy it!" It sounds silly but it makes such a difference. I also plan all my meals. I'll cook a big batch soup on a Sunday and have that for lunch all week with Ryvita instead of bread, and home cook a meal when I get in.

I'd love to see some of your dinner/ lunch ideas. Charlie has shared some Breakfast ideas in our last post. I think I'll start sharing mine too because it's a bit of a boost to see someone else doing it and getting ideas.

    Good luck ! M xo

I'd like to see the cook book, sounds like a great idea! I was thinking of illustrating an handmade cookbook for my mom for her birthday. They are a lovely touch.

I'm trying to just fit more healthier items into my diet. Making sure I eat fruit more regularly. I got a bit crazy over christmas and ate so much sugary stuff and it's really upset my skin – that along with stress it's taken a toll!

Such cute little idea, it's really hard to stick to a healthy lifestyle sometimes so this is a great idea 🙂

Great idea and one I need to put into practice too! By the way, where is your notebook from? I love it!

I think a positive attitude helps a lot, and I think this book will really help you to stay motivated. You'll smash it. I'm working on my resolutions, slowly, slowly hah 🙂

I've got quite a lot of weight to lose and I think if you pressure yourself to 'diet' then you end up stressing yourself out so I'm making better choices. It may take longer but at least I wont be so grumpy!!! Good luck with yours Ella, you're gorgeous regardless of weight xx

That notebook makes me want to go back to San Francisco and have the amazing clam chowder. It's served in a bread bowl! and you tear off the sides of the bowl and eat it as you go 🙂 xx

I love your little book of food! What a great idea!

Here are my thoughts when it comes to food, health, diets etc; When we are teenagers our body (and mind) go through a lot of changes. Personally my body got more "normal" when I turned 25. I did do some lifestyle changes, but only small ones I think..: I haven´t had a fizzy drink for the past 6 years, I don´t eat junk food and I stopped eating loads of candy/sweets everyday.
You are absolutely right – it´s not about size, it´s about feeling well in your own skin, and taking care of yourself. My experience is that food can reflect how you are feeling mentally (as most people know). For instance; I have been diagnosed with bipolar type 2, and over the years I have realized how much the depressions has affected my diet. It´s hard, I wont lie – but sugar is definitely not my friend. So I am trying not to overindulge in unhealthy food/sweets since I now know how they affect my mood and life in general.

I posted a picture of the beautiful Norwegian nature the other day – so stop by if you want! Hopefully my blog has a Norwegian feel to it 😉 I have also made a Norwegian treasury list on Etsy (LindisArt).

Good luck with your resolution Ella!

Healthy eating is always something I try to aim for, I'm not a believer of these fad diets! A recipe book sounds like a good idea, I always seem to make similar meals and I get bored of them so quickly! I don't want to loose any weight I'd just like to be healthy and have nice skin for once! good luck sweetie 🙂

It's lovely to hear that you are enjoying the lifestyle changes, rather than struggling. I have a recipe book like this that I am building up. I can't wait for it to resemble one of those old lady cookbooks with magazine cut outs and handwritten recipes xx

It is a creative and concrete idea, love it! The art of losing weight (I think) is to love food, healthy food and to love cooking. I try to enjoy each time the colors of ingredients and the creative combinations of taste!

I've always been a healthy eater and love to cook but since starting my full-time job which places me at a desk 9-5 snacking has become a habit. Also doesn't help that the sales team love chocolate! I've been trying to keep fruit in my desk drawer instead of crisps, and remembering to drink water throughout the day. the water is going well but picking up grapes instead of crisps is a bit of another thing!
