the road is home painting

Sometimes when working things can just fall into place, I have never painted a proper painting in gouache paint, so today I took the plunge and created this painting of Alba (Nirrimi and matt’s daughter) of the Road is home blog. Only taking me about two hours I found a renewed sense of confidence in
my skills ( when i was at school my art teacher told me i would never be
able to paint portraits…I think I may have proven her wrong). Its been lovely doing a little piece without really thinking, I have been in a lot of pain recently, we aren’t really to sure what the pain is, my bones and muscles hurt in a crazy way, I am smothered in deep heat to stop the muscle pain and i am filled with pain killers, its nice to create something to take my mind off it.

I have had a few messages about sharing my process, what I use and how I paint, I will try and figure out a way to share it all with you soon.

This is so good! Really well done. Do you do posters of your work, because I think some of your illustrations would make excellent posters 🙂 And I'm sorry to hear you're in pain. Feel better soon 🙁

So lovely Ella, you have such talent. I'm shocked that a teacher would even say that to a child, but I guess it just motivates you to prove them wrong. I really hope you feel better soon lovely, nobody needs that pain in their lives. Glad the painting has been therapeutic for you 🙂

Hope it gets better soon! And that this helps you take your mind of it. Positive thoughts and keeping busy work wonders, but sometimes you just have to listen to your body and give in. I've been going through quite a similar thing recently, and drawing/taking photographs/styling does the trick for me too.

Beautiful! A few of my lecturers said some pretty silly things too, you can most certainly paint portraits!

Hope everything is good with you too ella and well done on finally taking the plunge to freelance!

That is absolutely incredible! I wish I could do something like that, but I have the skills of a toddler. You have such talent. I've been legitimately staring at it for like five minutes.
