space to think

If I’m honest we can all be a little hard on ourselves at times,  I’m no exception to this so I have decided to purposefully take time out of my day to recoup and appreciate a lot of things. Mainly how hard I work and realize how much harder I need to work. When away in Cornwall the pace of life is completely different to here in London, which is something over time I have (sadly) got back into the routine of. When Chris went off for his morning cycle I would do a little house work and then make a cuppa and some buttery toast sit in the window and read a good book, something i’ve not managed to do in a really long time. No real reason for doing I just felt it was what I needed. Over time, in my head I figured anything like this was selfish or a waste of time, but as much as I like to keep busy your brain needs that switch off point.

So remember today to take your time with things, be kind to yourself and appreciate the little things more.

When my daughter lays down for nap each day, the first thing I do is relax on the couch with a book and tea. Even if she doesn't end up napping, for the ten or fifteen minutes while she tries it's a wonderful way to just get a rest in.
